What Does Ms. Felder Way Knew The Individual Students

Knowledge of Students In my observations I did find some evidence that Ms. Felder-Way knew the individual students. She remembered that one student had recently spoken at a school assembly and complimented him on having an excellent voice. During that time the class was writing an essay and she told the student that he needed to transfer that voice into his writing. Once she reminded him of that his introduction to his essay was great. Ms. Felder-Way also knew which of her students participated in the after-school tutoring program. She wanted them to use the strategies that they learned in the program to help them solve math problems. Although there was some evidence of knowledge of individual students, I believe that Ms. Felder-Way could’ve known more about the students. I observed that some of the students struggled with certain activities while others had no problems. If she had more knowledge of the individual students it could’ve affected those student’s con tent learning. I don’t believe that she takes the knowledge of her students into account in terms of design of the classroom, culturally relevant pedagogy, or to inform instruction. Use of Technology From my very first observation I could tell that technology played a huge role in Ms. Felder-Way’s classroom. She found ways to integrate technology into almost every lesson. All of the students were assigned Chromebooks which were purchased by the district.
